Just in the past week the radio stopped working for some reason. If the display turns on when the ignition switch is turned on, that red wire is okay. I may be at the end of my realistic options on home repair on this car stereo system. I hooked up my charger to the two power pins in the back and used alligator clips to the 1st and 5th pins to hook up a speaker I had laying Are these supposed to be there? If you have a cd / cassette combo radio, those were built by Mitsubishi and are REAL high quality. If the amp turns on, there is either a relay in the radio that has bad connections or a transistor circuit that has a problem, depending on the model number.

I don't have service manuals for most of the amplifiers but there's a good chance I can figure out the problem and fix it. If you have the cd-only radio, they lose sound on just the radio. Any amplifier-related problem will affect the radio, cassette player, and / or cd player. Jumping those wires might cause the radio to turn on too, depending on where the problem is located within the radio.

The radio LED display appears to be alternately displaying either the time, an FM station, or the FM station and the tape status display. They are rather involved taking apart but that problem also is repaired permanently once it's been done. Then I would start tracing wires. So i'm assuming that yours could also just be a bad headunit....except mine was a tape player and it wouldn't except tapes or anything....but the antenna worked fine and everything like The display has been out for several years, so no clue from there.
The Infinity system in your Jeep was real common so amps should be easy to find. If so we invite you to join our community and see what it has to offer. I'd find it odd for two of them to be causing a problem, let alone one.
