1999 Subaru Outback Speedometer Not Working


I own and operate an automotive repair facility i have two 99 subaru legacy's one is a sedan and the other a gt wagon. Hope this helps out a little. stated this appeared to be caused by oem sealant used on the circuit boards as seen in other subarus and many honda vehicles. Mayor: An expert whose answer got voted for 2 times. Replaced the malfunctioning one and have fixed the problem. I have the same problem and the mechanic that looked at it said that it was a magnet that was going bad inside the speedometer. Is it as simple as taking them out to access the assembly, or do I have to do a major disassembly of the dash?
