Car is Audi A4 Avant 130 TDI (2002 B6). Trouble started shortly after I inherited it from my brother: - The windows would come down on their own (usually part-way) - The alarm would go off intermittently (I would have A problem I've had! It wasn't even plugged in.

The CCM was not busted and irrespective of what one so called auto electrician said it did not have to be reprogrammed by a VW dealer at the cost of a Yay! Anyway, we are nearly done. Also try to unplug the module and see if your door locks and windows work ? Any ideas? Sorry! Noticed some copper sulphate on the harness and floor pan, removed the cloth tape. The illumination is not lighting, as well.
I dried everything out,(hours), and replugged all of the connections. The only other possible problem was a drain hole under the battery. In my case, the wires on both harnesses (one is for window/lock and the other for speaker) were frayed and broken. I taped it up.

The buttons on the steering wheel don't work either, and the visor light (that activates when mirror is open) blinks when the driver's side visor is moved to the down position. If it does then it may be the microswitch.
At a cost of £207.00 I could not afford one at the time. Therefore, sealing the CCM in a plastic bag will NOT fix the problem as water will eventually find it's way back in again using capillary action along the wiring loom.
