Touch the tip of the soldering iron on the top of the small capacitor shown in Photo 1 (it looks like a tiny aluminum can). CLUSTER DISASSEMBLY: Detach the ground wire that is protruding through the back, right behind the speedometer module. The diodes are the same. S13 Hud Cluster If that part is at fault, you will disassemble the module, remove the faulty part, solder in a new one, retest and hopefully, reassemble the whole rig. It is definitly the solder (if on hot days it works.) I have repaired mine. Also to have the blinkers switch connected if not you will not have turn signals, just to keep you from getting confused during final testing.

To save some money pull the Speedometer head and have it tested. I would venture a guess that the problem is in the cluster itself, the internal electronics on the digital clusters are quite fragile and temperamental.
